Working with Learned.

A new kind of
Thought Partner.

As your Thought Partner, I will give you the tools and resources to get you from where you are now to where you want to be. Using a careful blend of coaching, consulting and design principles we will create a road map that is custom-built for you. Along the way, I will challenge you to look at your growth through multiple lenses, test your assumptions and provoke you to explore new ways of thinking.
Here is my approach:

Unlearning.

What is contributing to your success? How do you know you aren’t wrong? Holding onto outdated habits and beliefs can make you obsolete without even knowing why. Realizing your own limitations is an experience you may find deeply uncomfortable, but it will likely lead you to pursue bigger and bolder opportunities than you have ever imagined.

I help people think about how they think.

Learning.

The word "change" prompts 8 billion search results on Google. The stats on learning and leadership are just as staggering. We have all experienced it, too many options can leave us anxious, stressed and stuck in a holding pattern. Know something needs to change, but don’t know what? Know what needs to change, but don't know how?

I help people learn what to learn.

Relearning.

Let's face it, from the way we build relationships to how businesses are run, change is the new normal. We need to adapt. We need to keep pace. We need to reimagine and retool so we are relevant now and in the future.

I help people replace fear with curiosity.

Learned helps people, teams and organizations create new strategies for learning, adapting and making change in a world that is moving at a breakneck speed.

Me.

As a Canadian who has lived and worked on four continents, I know a thing or two about learning how to adapt to new companies, cultures, and circumstances on a personal level.
This experience has given me a unique way of looking at transition, and personal growth. "I have never thought about it that way..." is the feedback I most often get from my clients. I know that with deep insight comes valuable change, so I strive to ask astute questions that will challenge the way you think.

What.

I draw upon 15+ years of international experience as a Coach, Leadership, Learning, and Organizational Development Expert. My practice is rooted in a blend of Adult Development theory, Applied Positive Psychology, and real-world experience.

Who.

I am passionate about enabling others to be extraordinary at what they do. I work with seasoned leaders, rising stars and savvy individuals who all have one thing in common: change. My clients are looking for ways to adapt, drive growth and navigate an increasingly complex world. I have been engaged as an in-house consultant and retained for private assignments across Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America for individuals, teams, and executives at notable organizations such as Twitter, McCann Worldgroup, and Triumph.

How.

I hold a Graduate Diploma in Applied Positive Psychology, and a dual Bachelors degree in Sociology and Anthropology. I have extensive training in coaching, facilitation, adult development, and learning design. I am also accredited and work with a number of psychometric tools such as Insights Discovery, Hogan Assessments, and DISC.

Where.

I am based out of Toronto and work globally as a Coach, Consultant, Facilitator and Advisor. I am also leading a research project on the future of learning, exploring how forces like technology and travel are changing the way we learn, work and play. When I am not obsessing about adult development, coaching or writing, I can be found enjoying solo sports, traveling with a loose agenda and forest bathing.

Taipei, 1999

That time an Aunti slapped me so hard I dropped my dumpling. Why? I was eating it all wrong. The wordless lesson in how to slurp the soup from a xiao long bao forever changed my approach to eating. Toronto and other Trails

That time I broke every rule in the book by taking a year off to figure out what I wanted to next. I cannot convey how much conventional wisdom I ignored to clear my path. Never underestimate the power of having nothing in front of you. #MakeYourOwnRules

San Francisco via Singapore, 2016

That time my brain betrayed my body by thinking commuting between San Francisco and Singapore was a smart idea. Five weeks in, I landed myself in a Singaporean hospital for 9 days with a gangrenous appendix that had ruptured. Getting sick made me reevaluate my success metrics. #YourBodyIsYourBrain

Hong Kong, 2009

That time I moved to the world’s freest economy during a financial crisis to open up a branch office of the consultancy I was working for. Nothing to do but listen and be a shoulder to lean on while the world economy reinvented itself. Not exactly the best strategy for managing profit and loss in the short term, but it was a recipe for winning in the long run. #HighQualityRelationships #ListenToLearn

Tokyo, 2002

That time a 24-hour stopover turned into a 7-year stint in Japan where I started my career and learned to stay put (for a while). Every morning I reminded myself to assume I knew nothing. Coming from a place of curiosity helped me learn how to navigate culture clashes and adapt to my new home town. #unlearn #cultureshock

Pinstripe Purgatory, 2007

That time a client asked: “Why are you hiding under that suit?”. That simple question helped me discover how to show up as myself and stop using the suit as a disguise. #YouDoYou #Learn

India, 2000

That time a fellow passenger asked me: “Why are you being poor in my country when you could be rich in yours?” This was not about my bank account, rather the quality of life that comes with a passport to my country. Why wasn’t I making the most of what I have been given? Sometimes strangers can see what we miss ourselves. #AQuestionWorthItsWeightInGold

Cambodia, 1998

That time I made an entire train carriage giggle with reckless abandon by eating a frog on a stick. A few hours later, they hushed as a bandit stopped inches away from my face. The bags and blankets my fellow passengers had piled on top of me, camouflaged almost all of me. I winced as the tip of his AK47 grazed my nose then felt sudden relief to hear the coughs and chatter that distracted him from my hiding place. #LaughterSavesLives
